Current State of DoW Mods - Update: June 05, 2005

All have links to sites of major interest unless otherwise shown. Any news or any assistance needed on the unhealthy DoW mods? I take it the unhealthy ones need a little more participation or recruitment in areas that are lacking. Understandable too that this is the Christmas season and some of us have exams. I do hope things pick up in the new year as its terribly exciting the work you modders are doing! Update: June 05/2005 Also adding this fabulous link showing all the units still outstanding to the game and someday may be added.. Outstanding War40k units (for consideration in DoW!) For tyranids, you need to go a little deeper than just the front page. The forums are where everythings going on, what with the new genestealer, the new hgaunt, and discussion of balancing units. I think the modders are just doing in house balance testing so they don't catch flak for sending out an imbalanced mod.

List revised as I caught on that as well. Hey.. revision is necessary in this biz. Glad to hear about dem 'nids who are truely one helleva unique civ to be included someday into DoW! Very much refreshing and hope the Nid team does a swank job.
Now.. if only the Dark Eldar, Harlequin, and Sisters of Battle could let the community know how things are and if assistence is needed. I for one am working with some chaps with Skirmish AI coding/scripts and its quite rewarding to share the wealth with the modders. Edit: Added Thousand Sons and Nomad: Fate Animalia (aka Dawn Of Squirrels) to the main list!! Last edited by thudmeizer : 18th Dec 04 at 11:51 PM. |

Don't be! This topic was more for the War40k universe whereas your creative work is more highly specific but no less outstanding work. I'm just bringing the community's attention to War40k-themed work. Hmmm.. then again I did mention Nomad: Fate Animalia (a DoW TC!).. okie.. you made it to the list too! :bandit: Btw: added Sisters Of Battle HomePage link and WitchHunters (although any work seems long forgotten. Ugh!) Last edited by thudmeizer : 19th Dec 04 at 12:40 AM. |

When the Inquisitors of the Demon Hunters have finished building the units they require for demon bashing we may start work on the Sisters, I understand that the original work done for the sisters figures was in Lightwave which is not supported, however the modelers for the demon hunters are all using Max which is !

Yeaa that alpha is likely a fake. I mean, the IG were already in DoW with 3-5 units but the 'Nids? Doubt that. However, Dalveldrin, the 'Nid forums are a teeming with activity so there is work being done there. My only initial concern is there was no unoffical press release from the Nid Modders like the other civ modders. The Nid Mod is uncharacteristically quiet and their last update on their site was Oct 15/04 and that concerns me as it only takes one member to ask the webmaster to update. I do hope the 'Nid Team progresses.. outstanding mod to add to DoW to say the least!! |

I'm real glad to see the Harlequins Mod is getting renewed interest. I'd love to organize people and find the needed staff these mod teams need! There is a place on Relicnews to easily search old archives from this forum and can trace projects that seem to have stopped. I wish it were that easy, however, to find the talent these guys need. I know this one DOOM3 texture artist who is simply incredible but could he work with an RTS like DoW - probably although would he have the time? These are the issues the mod community need to get answered.
I'm hoping renewed interested in both the Dark Eldar and Sisters Of Battle as well as the WitchHunters (if they would work as a civ?) will happen soon. To include all the major War40k civs is like including an entire family in on one huge festive - ya just can't leave any of 'em out without feeling a little empty. ![]() |

Hmmm.. Shaven Mod as in good olde Warhammer, not 40k? Now I'd love to see low tech meet high tech engagements!! Shaven/Ork alliances verses ultra-modern Tau, Eldar or Necron! I think Shavens would be perplexed at how the future looks? Tau/Eldar/Necron alone would look like gods to the Shaven whereas Shaven/Chaos/Ork kinda have that old beastie look with creaky parts, bolts, a little rust.
Anyway, looking forward to your work at yep you've been added! I think we need a good site for all the upcoming major DoW Mods + a progress bar to keep everyone focused! |

Thanks Vin258! Yer from the mod team we really need to chat with - the Dark Eldar team NEED HELP! How can we recruit some talent for you? I know yer looking for specific people on your site and we need to find solutions to your attendance problem preferrably talent that are a) interested in Dark Eldar b) who played Dark Eldar TT, c) who have skills in areas yer looking at d) are committed to getting the work done e) having fun and feel rewarded seeing their work come alive. Of all the major DoW civ mods yours is hurting the most and we need to help ya out. I know the other mods need help here and there to fill gaps but yours is a major War40k civ.
Btw, here is the original relicforums thread that kept going for quite some time.. there are old users there who moved things along but I gather have long since passed on.. Original Dark Eldar Thread |

Yes I remember I heard something about that but with all things YA GOTTA MARKET IT WELL! Dark Eldar need DoW representation badly! They're the only major civ, apart from the Sisters Of Battle/WitchHunters that need to be represented badly! I could only imagine the "gameplay flair" these civs would bring into DoW! <mega drool!!>

Gazbo - looking good! Are you still sticking to the objectives in your main Harlequins thread that was on this message board? That long one? U updated it back in mid-Dec with a nice list of goodies - still doeable?
Mandoo - no idea what happened to the Space Wolves.. perhaps I will search for it and stick it up as a possible dead-DoW Mod. AlteredFreak - do you have a link to an official Dawn Of Twilight site? The one in yer sig goes nowhere. Wouldn't mind scoping it out. |

Spacewolves Mod need help - no updates whatsoever.
As for the Tiberium Sun DoW TC Mod.. interesting.. Wonder how the resource system will work since C&C has always been about using harvestor units to collect then being back resources from the field. DoW, like BfmE, uses point-based capture-collecting systems so I'll be interesting if it'll be able to play with Tiberium Sun while DoW units are playing together? All the best! |

that DoW vs Tiberain sun would come much later after we get more than 2 people working on this mod.
harvesting will work with point cap system just with the illusion of harvesting occuring! think a much larger SP( will look like a small tiberium field with a tib tree) and when you build a LP(looks like refinery) and it would ahve a animation of a harvester going out to "collect" tiberium |

yes, it's a good thread.
I tkink that all modders who need help or all people who can help would better post here :-) there is a lot of people who doing stuff for Dow alone, so if they could work together And there is a really good mentality on this relic forum, really cool. perhaps we need another thread for all the individual work that have been made so that we could see it (i think of eldar model thread, things really impressive, etc It don't serve to make 4 time the same work, it would be better to use work of the other if it's possible) Well i'm thinking about something, Making a site so that people could share their models and theirs files, (for people who accept) so that we could have a free bank of tools for Dow Last edited by gadom : 29th Dec 04 at 4:37 AM. |

AlteredFreak - sounds interesting.. keep it up! Would like to see how it turns out.
Btw, thanks guys for the encouragement! I firmly believe people should share their models so no duplication occurs (ie. WhiteScars' Motorcycles). I'd love to see all modders get the staff they require - hope this thread helps to "advertise" the fact some mods need help (ie. Dark Eldar, Sisters of Battle/Witchhunters). |

Up for this topic,
i think we must update the nearly dead mod so my impress about this: Eldar aspect somenews about it??? Spaces Wolves (idem) Blood angels........... they probably need help or if they want to stop their work there is certainly people who want to work on their mod And i'm totally right with thudmeizer if we share our models, we could move really faster than now (and i find stupid to do the same work twice) If we're here it's cos we like this game and TT warhammer, i stand for the day when i will see all the chapter and race in dawn of war |

I think releasing models for others is good but, releasing them as they are now will be duplicating loads of work. eg, every model needs animating and texturing, if I give my models (Which I have no problem with) then they will end up with everyone doing different animations etc.
At the moment we need a bank for completed models with animations/texture maps so they can then be used by others. As Ive said before I have no problem anyone using my mk2-6 spacemarines, pre heresy terminiators, terminator librarians etc, the chaos/imperial warhound, reaver and titan, etc (as long as the people that did the textures and animations are fine with that and im sure they would be) then no problem using mine. But until they are ready which wont be until HH, epic, battlefleet mods have finished with them they will be pointless to anyone unless they want to have the same model and completely different animations |

Agreed! It would make sense that not only the models are complete but animated and ready to be used even in the Army Painter. However, some people just won't go that extra mile and just stop at the modelling phase. Everyone is a little different in such matters - different social lives. Still, for consistency sake it makes sense to have the model all ready from model->animation-complete/painter-ready. Update: Added both the Chaos Squat Empire and the DoW Skirmish AI Project to the list! Sheesshh! Can't believe I forgot the AI initative! :Slap: |

Hi folks. Epic Legions is stale but not dead. I'm committed to the eyeballs with a commercial project until Feb 2005. If you want to help out please PM me on this board or use epiclegions@warriorhut.net with 'MOD' anywhere in the subject line.
The good news is that relic and other modders have made excellent tools and scripts available since Epic Legions v0.2, which will make my job much easier. Humble apologies to the Epic crew for being the 'weakest link'. |

Yes it is....
The forums are intergrated with the Daemonhunters forums as I'm good friends with OrdoMalleus, leader of the Daemonhunters mod. http://www.11chor.at/dhmod/ There;s the link... I'm also in the process of creating a website -Adam |

Update: Added Heroes Mod. Looking good! I can only imagine having a civ based on just heroes kicking so much arse! Would all heroes be like the FC, CL/CS, FS, and BM/WB heroes which all have 1-4 special abilities each?
