New Tool: HW2 Manager (currently v1.21)
INTRODUCTION
HW2 Manager is a front-end program for Homeworld 2. It allows you to setup and configure Homeworld 2's command-line options before running the game. You can save your configurations to disk, and even save shortcuts to the Desktop. DOWNLOAD http://isometricland.com/homeworld/homeworld.php INSTALLATION Extract the contents of this archive into a folder on your harddrive. To run HW2 Manager, execute the file named "HW2_Manager.hta". This program requires that Windows Scripting Host v5.6 be installed. RUNNING THE PROGRAM The file with the ".hta" extension is the executable. Simply double-click on it to run the program. Note, there's an icon ("*.ico") file included with the archive to change the icon of the application's shortcut. INSTRUCTIONS
If you have set up the %HW2_ROOT% environmental variable as instructed by the RDN docs, you can use it within the "HW2 Directory" dialogue. Screenshot: ![]() Here's the change log: Last edited by Mikail : 5th Dec 09 at 7:38 PM. Reason: Added link to new homepage. |

any chance that this can be modified so it can handle folders of extracted mods? I have several mods that I have extracted the files from so that I could make slight changes to them. It would be nice if all of those files (perhaps including the mod's Big files) could all be in one directory and the program would load the files as if it was using a -mod ModName.big -overrideBigFile - hardwareCursor.

It already can handle multiple "data" folders. Simply change the path to the "Data Directory" in the top-most field, and toggle the "-datapath" switch. (Note: I think you'll have to copy "Homeworld2.big" and the other stock "big" files into each of these directories.)
On another note, I noticed that the "Run Homeworld 2" button no longer works since I switched from Windows 98 to Windows XP. I consider this a bug in the Windows Scripting Host, but am working on implementing a workaround. |

Update to v1.12
CHANGES IN 1.12
• Probably some changes I can't remember. • The contents of the application window now grow and shrink along with the window as it changes size. • Fixed a problem causing the "Run Homeworld 2" button not to work in Windows XP. As a result, the button may no longer work in Windows 98. Sorry! CHANGES IN 1.11 • Fixed the capitalization of some flags for case-sensitive systems. CHANGES IN 1.10 • Changed the sizes and positions of some of the panes. CHANGES IN 1.09 • Variable keynames have been shortened to two characters plus a number. This means that config files made using older versions of the program are no longer compatible. • A slight speed optimization when retrieving data from ConfigTable. • Switches are now printed to the screen dynamically, instead of being stored in the file (decreases filesize). CHANGES IN 1.08 • The program now works properly if it is not installed on the same drive as Homeworld 2. |

Update to v1.21
This version is an almost complete rewrite. It should be easier for everyone to use (hopefully). Let me know if it is working out OK for you.
CHANGES IN 1.21 • Now fully compatible with the Windows XP theme. CHANGES IN 1.20 • Too many changes to list. Almost completely redone. • Have attempted a workaround so that it will work in Windows 98 again, but I no longer have a computer with this operating system to test it on. Need feedback.
