Grid hotkeys updated for 1.3 patch
I've updated the grid hotkeys for the new patch.
Download here ![]() Save this file into your dawn of war/profiles/profile1/w40k (or whatever profile/mod you want to use) Please note, this has not been thoroughly tested yet - I basically copied and pasted krakn's original grid hotkeys over the new keydefaults file created by the 1.3 patch. If you find any bugs please post them here. If you haven't used it before then I recommend you give it a try - here's how it works. The left side of the keyboard is used to represent the layout of the buttons on the taskbar. So no matter what you have selected, Q will always perform the action in the top left button, W will always perform the next button etc... There are some exceptions to the rule, normally for abilities whose button wanders around between a, z,x and c and also for abilities that change when a hero is attached to a squad. You'll just have to find those (mousing over the button will always show you the new hotkey if you're not sure). One other major difference - spacebar selects a free builder, ctrl-spacebar selects a free unit. Big thanks to krakn and jigger for all the hard work in making this keybinding in the first place. |

Serath - first of all open windows explorer and go to your dawn of war/profiles/profile1/w40k folder. You should see a file called KEYDEFAULTS.LUA - it's a normal text file that contains the default Dawn of War hotkeys. You can open it with notepad and check all the hotkey assignments.
Make a copy of this file, so you can go back to the normal keys if you want to in the future, then right click on the download link above and select 'save link as' or 'save target as' and save the file into your dawn of war/profiles/profile1/w40k folder. This will overwrite the old hotkeys file with the new grid hotkeys. Some unusual things about the grid hotkeys - each key has multiple uses, for example if you've selected a jump squad - the V key is the jump action. But V is also the cancel button in some situations - just watch the icons on the taskbar and if you're not sure of a hotkey hover the mouse over the button and it will tell you. After you've played a few games with this you'll get the hang of it and everything is way faster, as you never have to move your left hand around the keyboard. Severijn - it's pretty easy to change the keys for a different keyboard layout. I'm not familiar with Azerty keyboards, but I assume the A is where the Q is on a Qwerty keyboard, and Z is where W is? If that's the case then just open the grid hotkeys KEYDEFAULT.LUA file in notepad and search through it, replacing Q with A and Z with W wherever they're used as a hotkey assignment. It should be pretty simple, if you've got both keyboards to refer too. |

The cancel button doesn't have a hotkey. It's assigned 'C' in the KEYDEFAULT.LUA, but it doesn't show up in game.
I noticed the same behavior in my attempt at translating Krakn's hotkeys. I think that's what taskbar.lua is for in his, but I haven't taken any time to see what's needed to translate taskbar.lua. |

Excedrin - I haven't updated the taskbar.lua at all, and these grid hotkeys seem to be working fine with version 1.3 for me so far. V is cancel if you give a unit an 'attack-move' or 'build' command for example - just as it should be.

Updated to fix building stances (Control+W) and bind accept to 'C' (the Accept button is visible when you cancel a building). These things used to work in krakn's version, but they don't in the ones with only the KEYDEFAULT.LUA files modified. This has been tested a little, seems to work fine. Report here if there are any problems. Note that the problem when none of the hotkeys work is not related to this. To work around that, hit ALT or CTRL a few times while the game is loading. |

You just have to add this line
Quote:
it is a new line in the end of the lua. And i suggest you delete the taskbar.lua from 1.3 hotkeys, else you dont get the new button for buildings. The attack one. Modified keydefault works fine without a modified taskbar now. If you want to be in line with the grid hotkeys you shoult change the new line to Quote:
Hope that helps and all. |
