Announcement: Patch 1.4 launches Thursday!
Hi all!
As the subject line says, on Thursday 8th September Patch 1.4 will launch and be available for download! The patch will be accessible by launching Dawn of War and logging in to the online section of the game (from the main menu, select Multiplayer, then Online). As usual, shortly after the patch has been released we will be resetting the Ladder Stats to allow players to once again build up their rank and take their places in the top 10 under these new balance conditions. In Patch 1.4 we are addressing a few notable balance items, and we've also added Persistent Bodies and Decals! These options (accessible from the Graphics Options) allow you to control how long the bodies of the fallen warriors remain on the battlefield. We think you're going to enjoy it! Here is a full list of changes that will be in Patch 1.4: Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War -- Patch 1.4 Changes Balance Changes Increased Defiler cost to 190 requisition 400 power Increased Defiler build time to 60 seconds Increased the cost of the Chaos Sorcerer to 200 requisition 100 power Chaos Sorcerer build time is now 60 seconds (up from 20) Cost and build time of Chaos Marine Tactical Bolters reduced by 5% Reduced the cost of the Chaos Temple by 10% Reinforce time of Chaos Marine Tactical Bolters reduced by 10% Warp Spider damage against infantry has been reduced by 15% Guardian damage reduced by 5% Ork Stormboyz armor changed from Infantry High to Heavy Medium. Ork Stormboyz should now be a much better counter to Warp Spiders. Reduced the cost of the Space Marine Dreadnought to 170 requisition 350 power Reduced the train time of the Space Marine Dreadnought to 50 seconds Cost and build time of Space Marine Tactical Bolters reduced by 5% Reinforce time of Space Marine Tactical Bolters reduced by 10% Reduced the cost of the Chapel Barracks by 10% Scouts were inadvertently given an accuracy penalty while moving in the 1.3 patch. This penalty has been removed. Scouts should now be more effective at dealing damage. The recharge for Battle Cry was reduced to 96 seconds (down from 120) The recharge for Orbital Bombardment was reduced to 195 seconds (down from 240) The recharge for Smite was reduced to 100 seconds (down from 120) The recharge for Weaken Resolve was reduced to 45 seconds (down from 60) The build time for the Predator Lascannon upgrade was reduced to 20 seconds (down from 25) Code & Performance Changes Many small optimizations for low-end systems Full front-end now reloaded after switching mods (games) 2 new graphics options: Persistent Bodies, Persistent Decals Improved system performance detection capabilities of GraphicsOptions utility, resulting in more accurate settings. As a result, the GraphicsOptions utility will automatically run next time you start the game, post-patch/update. |

Stormboyz are heavy_inf!!! Dear God!
Defiler AC remained the same! Why are Bolters cheaper than before? I guess they mean HB... Sorc Spam is gone! More OB! Scout rush is back? Those are my initial reactions theorycrafting-wise... Two more days and I can play, two more days and I can play! EDIT: Grabnutz, will do, right after the next one. |

Whats with the huge sorc nerf, seems excessive to me.
By Bolters they are talking about standard tactical marines, not heavy bolters. So your tactical squad now builds faster (the initial 4) and costs less. In addition it reinforces faster then before (and probably reinforcing costs less as well. |

Guys the scout buff is only when moving, scouts had a brutal accuracy penalty while moving in 1.3 (i think it changed accuracy from 85% to 35%) which made them do next to no damage when moving. That has been restored to 1.2 values. The 1.3 scout damage nerf is still in effect.

So ork got no help with AV, or their own vehicles, chaos got un IMBAed but no buffs to help the rest of their troops...
Eldar got perhaps trashed against orks now, but same against others. Sm got... New eldar? I REALLY hope this is not the whole list. Still thanks for getting it out to us, bring on WA ![]() |

Ah well... Just have to relax a few days and gather strenght for the excessive amount of DOW-playing this weekend. And the chanhes look promising. But it's a bit short, don't you think? |

They got cheaper marines. That as all. I think the "Not the Librarian surely, He of the long build time." should be replaced by the sorc now. Seems that SM got Über buffs. The dred has become the new defiler!

To be honest with you, they could of done a lot more.
Things that could of been changed: Eldar: Rangers Farseer spells (when she dies, 3 spells once more) Banshees Reapers need a little tweak Eldar Economy, they rush you to hell, then when you can fight back, FoF off and already have the same Econ as you Chaos: Defilers AC remains the same? WTF. Doesn't matter how long it takes, that AC will rock still Sorc spells, nothing changed? HP should be increased due to increased cost Raptor CC damage to light buildings is terrible Horrors/Possessed still suck, no change to Circle so still no one will build them Oblits weapon targetting is bugged Frag grenades SM: Assault rines CC to light buildings sucks Uber dreads at tier 2? Frag Grenades Apoth x16 ? Orkz: Still completely crap vehicles that take long to get LP2's still weak as hell Orkz completely retarded Anti Vehicle Eh i dunno, i hope that wasn't the whole change log, cos there are a lot of things they could of done. I think a lot of us have even forgot about Rangers and Banshees, two whole units in the Eldar armoury. tt Edit: Didn't see TBS' post, but this is not whine, constructive critiscm ![]() |

A word on patch distribution Allright folks, here's how it's going to go down. Relic will send the patch to "the usual suspects" in addition to releasing it via gamespy, so there will be a bunch of mirrors. We will also provide mirrors and a torrent stream. There will be a docked thread listing download mirrors. If you would like to have your mirror added, post in that thread. Here's where your comments should go:
