Any one heard of 24? It was an excellent series.

What are your views on the series?

(The alternative ending{the one that was screened was better} was excellent)

One of the best shows on standard TV. I love this show. Finally a show with a real story and timeline. I'm so sick of shows that solve the problems of the world in 1 hours each week. A break through show IMO

It was good, but they were definately making it too busy- if you're going to portray realtime, it needs some boring stuff in it that isnt' relevant to the plot...

But... ALTERNATIVE ENDING?! argh! Torment! We never get teh cool stuffs here. Jeez. As for the second series... may it improve on the ideas they came up with for the first...

Next to West Wing, 24 is probably the best series on TV right now. I missed last year's series, but I've tried to catch as many of this year's episodes as possible. It might be a little hard to get into at this point in the show (because each episode is a continuation of the last one), but if you don't mind being a little lost at first, I think you'll find the show to be worth watching.

The original 24 started off great, the idea of a 'real time' show was something new. However the bad guys were morons, continually screwing up and not accomplishing their goals. How many chances do they need to kill a husband, wife and their daughter? After watching about 12 shows i finally just stopped imo it got way to predictable, and just felt like every other 'good guy' wins in the end.

I hear that the wife died in the end... well i guess the bad guys were finally able to kill someone. But the intelligence of their military arm as a whole was a joke.

They had manpower, weapons, and technological hardware yet somehow they could just not get anything done due to fate, luck, and one aging agent with his fool of a daughter.

My favorite show this year is Robbery Homicide by Michael Mann. The same person responsible for the movie Heat. He shows both sides of the spectrum in terms of good vs evil, and how its more of a dual of grey vs grey instead of the ever so popular and misleading black vs white saga. In the first show a leading character was gunned down. The series continues to give a 'real' look at drugs, life, and violence as well. Aside from the 'Shield' i have yet to see another like it on TV.

Anyway you wanted opinions there ya go.

24 started off as a great thriller, but, as soul said, about 12 hours in it really takes a left turn into the ridiculous.

That said, it's some of the most enjoyable, riveting and downright sexily filmed ridiculous hokum I've ever watched.

So I still loved it, despite the increasingly ridiculous plot machinations.

More importantly, it seems to be symptomatic of an increasingly daring and risk-taking approach to Drama in the US. With 24 (Miss one episode and you lose the plot, very un-network TV)

The West Wing (Big budget drama about... politics? With dialogue impenetrable to anyone without a masters in political science and 'blink and you'll miss them' plot set ups, doesn't exactly scream ratings)

The Sopranos (The staple drama about the all american family... the all american mafia family... the all american dysnfunctional mafia family... the all american violent dysfunctional mafia family... with bad language...)

Six Feet Under (Each show begins with someone dying. Need I say more?)

It seems that TV over there has had a short sharp swift spiritual kick to the head recently, and proffered up all these quality shows as a result...

24 is the best show out there. The first season half way through went stupid for about 3 shows, but then it picked up. Second season is turing out very, very good. On at tuesdays, 9 pm, Fox. If you have just started to watch, i suggest you go to FOX's 24 web site and read up on what has happend so far (includes season one and up to 2 pm on season 2) I video taped it today cause i had no time to watch it. Oh boy, i can't wait to see what happend.

oh yes, Sasami, PM me about the better ending.
