leader for a space marine army

I was recently thinking about another leader for my ultra marine army they are more of a strike fast and hard unit with heavy firepower to support the front line.
So I flicked through my codex none I really like except marneus (but hes 1500 points not many tournament games let you have 1500 points.)
So my choices are either:

inquistor (incase enemy uses daemons equip him with a psycannon bolter)

---or---

a vindicare assassin

actually most tournies are well over 1500 pts, either at 1700, 1850, or 2k. try using tigurius or makin one of your own.

Not to mention that neither of the choices you listed are legal as HQ units for an SM army. Assasins are Elites choices, and Inquisitors require an HQ choice from the parent list before you can take any allies.

next question:

should i have marneus calgar with the honor guard or arent they worth the point limit as they range around 70- 95 points (trying to remember the point cost of them as i have mis laid my codex only had it for 3 hours)

Also, for an assasin, you'll need to ally an Inquisitor Lord in addition to your other HQ to be able to take an assasin.

As for Calgar, special characters generally aren't worth it. The only one in the SM codex that I vaguely like is Tigurius, as he has the nifty ability of being able to choose his power every game in a tourney.

Yes. And what is there to not understand about the Allied rules?

to be quite honest im extremely thick when it comes to warhammer rules so many rules to remember so many pages i also suffer from a kind of selective memory. not yet medical but basically my memory only picks out stuff i have seen alot of times. anyways of that.

i dont really like cassius looks cool but he doesnt fit into my strike fast strike hard, fall back and all that chase them get teared to pieces by heavy support troops mounted in transports.

also can this thread be locked now.

My copy of their codex only requires either an Inquistor Lord (HQ) or Inquistor (Elite) to be present (p30)

Quite. However, as you're only allowed one elites choice as allies, and the Assasin takes up an elites choice, you're required to take the Inq Lord to be able to take an assasin.

Overpowering:
Mabye try Shrike....
You could get rid of ?Marceus? And he is really good in close combat...
If your'e colelcting an Ultramarines army or any other, it's simply a matter of sculpting different symbols.
